#Joblove

Do you love what you do for a living? This is such an important question that I think everyone should ask themselves on a regular basis.  Of course these are just my opinions and I am not by any means suggesting that anyone go out and quit their job tomorrow.  For some people their passion has to be something that they do as a side business or as a hobby.  This is completely understandable but I cannot stress the importance of doing what you love.

I know that I am blessed because I truly do what I love for a living.  It wasn't  (and isn’t) always easy and it is a lot of hard work but I wouldn't trade that work for anything in the world.  I get to work with amazingly talented people on a regular basis and get to meet so many different and interesting people all the time.  Having these opportunities are of course always great and they make the day to day aspects of my job more interesting.

There are always tasks and other things that you have to do on a regular basis that aren’t as much fun.  But the process of planning, sourcing, designing and putting together an event are honestly fun for me.  In my personal business I primarily work with couples to plan and coordinate their weddings.  Some of these weddings are just a one day event while others can be a week of functions.

It could just be the hopeless romantic in me but working with a couple to design and put together their special day feeds my soul.  I get to meet with new, fun and exciting couples, hear all about their love story and help them translate that love that they have for each other into their special day.  Wedding planning is definitely not a job that you do for the money because there are countless hours that you put into each and every single event that most people will never know about.  You spend countless days reviewing and re-reviewing the details to ensure that nothing is forgotten.  You also spend lots of time rolling with the punches on the ground and making sure that none of the little hiccups interrupt the couples special day.  But when you see it all come together, when you see these two people who love each other join their lives and everyone there to celebrate them, something almost magical happens.

Every wedding planner has their favorite part of a wedding. For some it's the vows… for others, it's the photos… but for me it’s the first dance.  To me there is something so special about that first dance … it makes all those hours worth it and you know that you have been a part of something special for this couple.  That will always mean more to me than any amount of money ever could.
