Chocolate Cinnamon Smoothie Bowl

Earlier this year, when I first started my blog, smoothie bowls were my jam - the combinations I put together were endless! However, I started to notice that while they were delicious, they were quite high in sugar.  In addition to this, I realized that I wasn't consuming enough veggies in on a daily basis.

As I experimented more with my food, I found that there were so many amazing ways to create recipes that were packed with veggies, fibre, healthy fats, protein, and complex carbohydrates.  A perfect example of this is my low-sugar chocolate cinnamon smoothie bowl!  I'm so happy with this recipe creation in particular, as the base is fruit-free, creamy, and full of nourishing ingredients, and can be enjoyed with a variety of toppings.  See below for the recipe!

Blend:
- 1 cup frozen butternut squash
- 3/4 cup frozen cauliflower
- 1/2 cup carrots
- 1.5 tbsp almond butter
- 1 tsp organic cinnamon
- 1 tbsp raw cacao powder
- 1 scoop chocolate protein powder (I use the vegan Genuine Health brand)
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 3/4 cup water

Topping ideas:
- strawberries
- banana
- fresh figs
- bee pollen
- coconut ribbons
- raw cacao nibs
- hemp hearts

This recipe is perfect for the transition from summer to fall.  It's also full of vitamin A, vitamin C, potassium, and magnesium to keep you nourished and energized, and an ideal combination of protein, healthy fats, and carbohydrates to help keep your blood sugar stable.  Enjoy!
