You Are Only As Good As Your Last Event

The hospitality industry is ever changing and renewing itself and therefore in order to keep ourselves relevant, many industry professionals live by different forms of motivation.  I personally work on the belief that you are only as good as your last event.  It is important to constantly renew yourself, your business and of course your offerings.  The guiding principle that I choose to operate my business on, and one that I constantly remind my team of is, that we are only as good as our last event.  This may sound harsh at first but it is important to remember that there is always competition for business. 

Renewing yourself and your business can be done in many different ways.  It is important to constantly educate yourself and learn about industry trends and new ideas and innovations.  As a brand you always need to freshen up your offerings and ensure that, although your service is consistent, you are offering a fresh take that will se you apart from others. 

It is important to remember that you must always put your best foot forward.  A person can attend many amazing events that you are involved in and then come to one bad event and that is always going to be the one that remains at the top of their mind.  It is also sadly true that people will tell one person about a good experience, where as they will tell five people about a bad experience.  We live in a society where we are constantly judged by the service that we provide.  We need to always put our best foot forward in anything we do, no matter how many times the event has happened or we have worked with that specific client. 

This guiding principle is something that I constantly remind my team of and that I keep in mind on a daily basis.  I find that this helps to motivate my team as well as myself and I think many people would agree that anything that keeps you and your team motivated is always a good thing!
